Sheer Gown Civil War Lady Sheer gowns have been the basis of many reproductions you see around the country. Our choice of fabrics include light and airy Egyptian cottons, imported Pima cottons, English lawns and American gauze fabrics in historical themes. Gown style is replicated from one of the many original sheers in our private collection; a gathered bodice, detached bodice lining, the skirt is bottom lined. Full gathered sleeves meet in a neat cuff. This is a great style for all figure shapes. Once you wear our sheer weight fabric, you won't know why you waited so long. These gowns weigh only ounces and are the 1860's style not the earlier dress style (1840-1850's) many reenactresses mistakenly wear to Civil War reenactments (we make those styles too, but for earlier timeline events). Many of you ask where we find the fabrics we use. Our answer; "everywhere!" Joy Melcher gathers these fabrics on her globe trotting trips around the world. Please email us for current fabrics in stock. E-mail your fabric color desires. Our fabrics change very quickly as they are quickly snatched up. We will do our best to select the perfect fabric for you.
